Depending on your arrival time, spend the remainder of the day relaxing after your journey or explore some of Nairobi's attractions.
Travelers arriving early can arrange optional excursions such as Nairobi National Park, Giraffe Centre or other Nairobi experiences. Your driver-guide will also brief you about the safari ahead, including departure time, route, expected driving conditions and general safari guidelines.
Journey to the Legendary Maasai Mara
After breakfast, meet your safari driver-guide and depart Nairobi for the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
The journey takes you through Kenya's beautiful countryside and the Great Rift Valley region. Where timing and road conditions allow, there will be stops for refreshments, photography and views along the route.
Continue toward Narok and onward to the Maasai Mara, arriving at your budget safari camp or lodge around lunchtime or early afternoon, depending on departure time and road conditions.
After check-in and lunch, prepare for your first Maasai Mara game drive.

Depending on wildlife movements and your safari plan, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, cheetahs, hyenas, warthogs and various antelope species.
During the migration season, game drives may also explore areas associated with migrating wildebeest and zebras. The exact location and timing of herds varies each year according to rainfall and grazing conditions.
