Nyeri is a peaceful, scenic town located in Kenya’s Central Highlands, at the foothills of Mount Kenya, about 150 km (3–3.5 hours) north of Nairobi. Historically a center of colonial administration and agriculture, Nyeri is surrounded by lush tea and coffee farms, forests, rivers, and sacred Kikuyu heritage sites. It’s a great destination for history, nature, and cultural tourism, and serves as a quiet, authentic base for exploring the Mount Kenya region. Nyeri is also the final resting place of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement, making it a significant site for Scouts worldwide.
