Tsavo West National Park is the wilder, more scenic counterpart to Tsavo East, covering about 9,000 km² in southern Kenya. It's known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, rolling hills, lava flows, and dense bush. Unlike the open plains of Tsavo East, Tsavo West is more rugged and lush, with hidden oases, crystal-clear springs, and excellent chances to spot leopards, hippos, and black rhinos. Part of the greater Tsavo Conservation Area, the park is located between Nairobi and Mombasa, making it accessible by both road and rail.
