Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru

Description

Lake Nakuru National Park is a compact but incredibly diverse park located in central Kenya, about 160 km northwest of Nairobi (a 2–3 hour drive). Centered around the alkaline Lake Nakuru, the park is famous for its large flocks of flamingos (which color the shoreline pink when in season), as well as its rich birdlife, scenic landscapes, and healthy populations of both black and white rhinos. This UNESCO-listed park is part of the Great Rift Valley and offers a mix of savannah, woodlands, cliffs, and wetlands, making it a great one- or two-day safari destination, especially for those short on time.
